Kalmar Stadsfest 2026: A Festival that Unites Community, Culture, and Creativity

In August 2026, Kalmar will once again be transformed into a vibrant center for culture, music, and community as Kalmar Stadsfest takes place from August 6th to 8th. The festival, organized by Destination Kalmar in collaboration with Kalmar municipality, continues the tradition of bringing together residents and visitors through a wide range of activities and performances across the city's venues and public spaces.

The festivities kick off already on Wednesday, August 5th, when an international food market opens in Stadsparken. Here, around 35 stalls will offer dishes from 24 different countries – an opportunity to make a culinary world tour without leaving Kalmar.

Wide Program for All Ages

The main days, August 6th–8th, are filled with a rich and varied program for all ages. Art walks and open studios invite creative exploration, while the city's parks and squares fill with family-friendly activities. MountX offers mountain bike displays and world-class freestyle football, while pentathlon, a lively fairground from Axels, and Barnens Arena ensure plenty of experiences for the youngest visitors.

Music once again forms the heart of Kalmar Stadsfest. On Stortorget, well-known names such as E-type, Hasse Andersson, Melody Club, A*Teens, and Ida-Lova await. Larmtorget will be visited by, among others, Sahara Hotnights, Clara Mae, Larz Kristerz, and several young stars under the banner "Talentcoach presenterar". On Friday, August 7th, the music program is headlined by RIX FM Festival with artists such as Felicia, Liamoo, Meira Omar, Jakob Karlberg, Ella Tiritiello, Cimberly, Klara Hammarström, and Rymdpojken.

Additional program features include Kalmar Woodstock at Sveaplan, mixing rock nostalgia with local festival spirit, as well as folk music, jazz, and theater at Krusenstiernska gården. The Stadspark stage offers a wide range of genres, from discopunk to Greek folk music, and also features an open stage for spontaneous local participation.

For food enthusiasts, there is more than just the international market. Between August 6th and 8th, Folkets Fest will be hosted in Kavaljersparken – a meeting place for local flavors and drinks where visitors can sample products from Ängöl, Arontorps Kroppkakor, and Holy Smoke BBQ. Some activities, particularly at Axels Tivoli and Barnens Arena, require a participation fee, offering a varied selection of both free and paid options.

Environmental responsibility remains central to the festival. Since 2025, Kalmar Stadsfest has used the sustainability tool Green Times to measure and develop its environmental efforts and contribute to the city's sustainability goals. The festival strives for continuous improvements toward a greener and more responsible public celebration.
