Bach Jazz and Style of Eye Unite Centuries in Daring Collaboration: 'Präludium (style of eye rework)'

When creative worlds collide, the boundaries of music are redefined. Friday, October 9, 2026, marks the release of "Präludium (style of eye rework)", where three eras and genres intersect. Bach Jazz, one of Sweden's most acclaimed new jazz acts, joins forces with Linus Eklöw—internationally known as Style of Eye and member of Galantis—to collaboratively reshape J.S. Bach's iconic Prelude in C major (BWV 846 from 1722) into something entirely new.

Just two years after their debut album, Bach Jazz—consisting of Emil Carlsson Rinstad on piano, Magnus Bergström on double bass, and Ola Winkler on drums—has claimed a secure spot among the Swedish jazz elite. Over a year on the Swedish top jazz charts, more than 50 concerts, and several TV appearances have laid the foundation. Now, the trio is breaking new ground in collaboration with the producer behind international successes like Icona Pop's “I Love It”.

The starting point for the new single is Bach Jazz’s interpretation of Bach’s Prelude in C major. Eklöw, back in the production studio after five to six years of silence, found inspiration in a spontaneously improvised solo phrase by Magnus Bergström. With contemporary rhythms, field recordings, spoken word, and electronic textures, Eklöw expands it into a new sonic landscape where the original's jazz feeling underpins the work. The result is more than a remix: it's a new creation where the clear forms of the Baroque, the improvisation of jazz, and modern club music meet in a contemporary dialogue.

Eklöw describes the collaboration as a decisive point in his creative development. After several years of self-imposed silence, he sees the project as both a fresh start and a reconnection with his essential musical expression. In meeting Bach Jazz, Eklöw finds a freedom in the unexpected. “I was drawn to the challenge,” he explains. “On paper, it sounds unfamiliar, but if it happens organically the result can be magical. The broken chords and the straight groove unite the legacy of classical music with the pulse of the club scene.”

“Präludium (style of eye rework)” is more than an artistic experiment—it is a glimpse into the future for one of the Western world's most recognizable melodies. Bach's original Prelude, over 300 years old, is given new life through jazz and further through electronic transformation, and becomes a contemporary voice. Three centuries, three musical languages, and three artists converge in a work that leads Bach's legacy into uncharted territory.
