Thomas Stenström Combines Music and Social Responsibility with Four Charity Concerts at Trädgården
Between August 31 and September 3, 2026, Thomas Stenström will take the stage at Trädgården in Stockholm for four consecutive nights under the Skanstullsbron. These concerts are more than just performances by the popular artist – Stenström has chosen to donate all surplus from the events to three prominent organizations: Majblomman, Civil Rights Defenders, and Greenpeace.
This initiative highlights Stenström's desire to use his musical influence for meaningful social engagement. The timing, just before the Swedish parliamentary election, marks a conscious attempt to inspire togetherness and draw attention to both societal and global challenges. The fact that the recipient organizations themselves will be present each evening underscores the dual focus of the events – concertgoers are invited to gatherings that are about both music and meaningful involvement.
An Ambitious Summer Concludes in Stockholm
The four nights at Trädgården constitute one of the last major stops on Stenström's extensive summer tour, where he has performed nearly 30 times throughout Sweden and Norway. These shows are not only a musical finale before a planned break, but also a clear stance on the role and responsibility of artists in public life.
The decision to donate all proceeds to charity is rooted in Stenström's experiences from participating in the “Vi är Sverige” concert in Almedalen earlier this summer – an event that sparked strong reactions and clearly showed the need for venues where people can gather around music and important social issues. By turning the Trädgård concerts into charity events, he reinforces the view that artists should not only entertain but also contribute something larger to the public discourse and community.
Each evening offers its own musical setting thanks to a diverse lineup of opening acts. On August 31, Division 7 warms up the crowd, followed by Ida-Lova on September 1. Crescenterna are the opening act on September 2, and on the final evening, September 3, Amani Smith kicks off the night. This reflects Stenström's wish to highlight various voices within Swedish music and create unique experiences for the audience.
The selected charities – Majblomman, Civil Rights Defenders, and Greenpeace – ensure that the fundraising supports children's rights, human rights, and the environment. Their presence on site also enhances the audience's opportunity for direct interaction with their work and purposes.
Stenström's concerts at Trädgården represent a meeting between music, society, and activism – a fitting finale for an intensive summer tour and a reminder that cultural experiences can inspire both joy and care for the greater good.
