The Mission Returns to Sweden for Three-Day Tour in Autumn 2027

The Mission, pioneers of British post-punk and goth rock, have announced a Swedish tour for autumn 2027. Fans can look forward to three unique evenings filled with the band’s characteristic atmospheric guitars and strong melodies, as the group visits Gothenburg, Stockholm, and Malmö.

A Pioneering Career and Stage Presence

The Mission was formed in Leeds in 1986 by Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams, shortly after their departure from The Sisters of Mercy. They were joined by guitarist Simon Hinkler and drummer Mick Brown, and together, the quartet quickly created a dreamy soundscape that combined dark post-punk with the epic sweep of goth rock. The band’s swirling guitar landscapes, memorable choruses, and Hussey’s emotional vocals soon became their hallmark.

The debut album God’s Own Medicine was released the same year, containing songs like “Wasteland” and “Severina,” which quickly achieved cult status. In 1988, The Mission worked with Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones to produce Children, which gave rise to the classic “Tower Of Strength.” With Carved In Sand in 1990, the band cemented their place on the scene with tracks such as “Butterfly On A Wheel” and “Deliverance.”

After a brief hiatus in the 1990s, the original lineup reunited and resumed both recording and touring. Notable albums from this later period include Aura (2001), God Is A Bullet (2007), and Another Fall From Grace (2016). The band’s classic sound has evolved but has always retained the heartfelt and dynamic qualities that have captivated fans through the decades.

In recent years, The Mission has toured extensively in Europe, North America, and South America. The current lineup with Wayne Hussey (vocals/guitar), Craig Adams (bass), Simon Hinkler (guitar), and Alex Baum (drums) delivers energetic live shows marked by the grand sound and emotional depth that have built the band’s legacy.

The upcoming Swedish tour offers Swedish fans the chance to experience The Mission’s suggestive stage presence and rich catalog in real time. The tour schedule is:

  • 28 September 2027 – Pustervik, Gothenburg
  • 30 September 2027 – Fållan, Stockholm
  • 4 October 2027 – Plan B, Malmö

Both devoted followers and new listeners now have the chance to encounter one of post-punk and goth rock’s most influential bands – still vital and powerful on stage after more than four decades.
