After more than a decade away from the stage, Danish rock band The Floor Is Made Of Lava will return to the live scene with a highly anticipated show at Suset Festival 2026. The festival takes place on 21–22 August 2026, offering visitors the chance to experience live music in Esbjerg’s harbour area and Byparken, set against an industrial backdrop and the pulse of the city. For many fans, this means a long-held wish is coming true, as the band has been among the most requested acts for Suset in recent audience surveys.

The Floor Is Made Of Lava was formed in 2006 and quickly became an established name in Danish rock. The debut album All Juice No Fruit from 2007 set the tone with its energetic sound, followed by Howl at the Moon (2010) and Kids & Drunks (2012). All records produced radio singles that were named 'P3’s Uundgåelige' by Danish national radio, evidence of the band’s strong presence in national airwaves. In 2012, the track 'Lost in the Woods' was the most played Danish song on P3, further cementing the band’s cultural significance.

The band has received attention and recognition, with nominations for both GAFFA Prisen and P3 Guld – two of Denmark’s biggest music awards. 2011 became a breakthrough year for the band, crowned by the title Årets Nye Navn at Zulu Awards – an accolade that marked their explosive progress. A significant part of the band’s reputation stems from their live shows, known for their high energy and strong stage presence, with frontman Tobias Kippenberger as the driving force.

Kippenberger, who is also festival director for Suset, expresses great enthusiasm for the return: “I’ve lost count of how many have asked when The Floor Is Made Of Lava would play again, especially here at Suset. When a comeback began to be discussed, it felt natural for Suset to invite us. It will be a very special concert, and we are incredibly excited to return to our hometown Esbjerg.” Alongside Kippenberger, the band consists of Lars Morten Rock (guitar), Thomas Balslev (drums), Anders Hvass (bass), and Christian Hede (guitar). The reunion at Suset will be the band’s first live performance since they last played at Tivoli in 2013—a moving event for both the audience and band members.
