Maxida Märak to Release New Album "Ögonblick" in Autumn 2026 – Three Major Concerts Announced
The Swedish artist and activist Maxida Märak steps back into the spotlight this autumn with her new album, "Ögonblick", which will be released on October 23, 2026. Märak, long praised for her ability to merge music, social debate, and personal storytelling, now presents a work expected to be one of the year's most significant Swedish album releases. Her artistry is deeply rooted in Sápmi and her tireless social engagement, which consistently results in uncompromising expression and bold messages.
Personal Expression and Contemporary Themes
"Ögonblick" is an album revolving around motherhood, nature, resistance, and hope – topics which Märak herself says are central at a time marked by social tensions and important crossroads. The creative process has involved close collaboration with Erik Hjärpe, Elz, and producer Jon Rinneby, and is characterized by a stripped-down sound where electronic layers have been replaced by voice, acoustic instruments, and honest lyrics. Märak has emphasized her wish to return to her roots, create music close to everyday questions, and refuse to gloss over rising anxiety.
Her music has often served as a call to action and to make voices heard – something she sees as even more important in what she describes as a "decisive year for democracy". "Ögonblick" reflects both the individual's and the collective's relationship to nature, and the responsibility we bear for future generations. This continues Märak’s hallmark – intertwining musical experimentation with deeply engaging storytelling.
The first single, "Mission", will be released on August 28, 2026, giving the public a first glimpse into the album's emotional landscape. Märak describes "Mission" as a direct response to current social changes and a challenge to established Swedish norms and the passivity among the more privileged. At its core is a call for vigilance and social engagement, especially at a time when political issues are coming to a head.
After the acclaimed "Lånat", Märak now moves even closer to a stripped-down expression. By putting digital effects aside and instead letting voice and instruments take center stage, she wants to invite the listener to an intimate and unfiltered experience where the music highlights urgent issues rather than distracts.
The album is released via Jubel, in collaboration with Amplify Management, further strengthening Märak's collective and quality-driven work in the studio.
In parallel with the album release, there will also be three major concerts around Sweden this autumn. This comes in the wake of a summer tour where most shows have been sold out – a clear sign of the strong audience engagement and Märak's contemporary relevance. Her live performances are often described as holistic experiences where storytelling and musical power are united.
- October 24, 2026 – Carlia Hotell, Uddevalla
- October 25, 2026 – Scalateatern, Stockholm
- November 8, 2026 – Palladium, Malmö
At the concerts, both new tracks from "Ögonblick" and highlights from previous material are promised – offering both loyal and new listeners an emotional and rich musical journey.
Over the past decade, Maxida Märak has established herself as one of Sweden’s most original voices – with her natural place between hip hop, folk music, and modern genre openness. Her commitment to activism and social debate is at the core of her creativity, making "Ögonblick" a natural continuation of the story she persistently and honestly drives forward.
