Mall Call Transforms Abandoned Stinsen into Avant-Garde Festival Experience

The silent and deserted Stinsen shopping mall in Sollentuna, just north of Stockholm, is about to experience a spectacular revival. On November 27, Mall Call will make its debut—a pioneering festival focused on electronic dance music and contemporary club culture. The festival will take over the 30,000-square-meter, formerly commercial complex, breathing new life into the building's empty spaces.

Behind the initiative are organizers Luger and Nanana, who aim to create an event where music, art, and environment interact in a unique way. Visitors will be able to wander between different parts of the former mall and encounter dance floors, stages, and themed areas where shops and restaurants once stood. The inspiration comes from international projects such as Drumsheds in London, where remnants of commercial architecture have become vibrant club scenes. Here, the venue takes center stage—not just as a backdrop but as the very hub of the entire festival experience.

Stinsen, which opened its doors in 1995 and was reopened in 2009, has stood empty for several years. Its distinctive architecture and flexible interiors are now perfect for a total transformation: from the everyday life of a shopping center to a world-unique celebration of club culture. The idea is for every corner to offer new surprises—for example, a wine bar in a former optician's shop, a dance floor in a former electronics store, or art installations in the place of a former supermarket. This creative model gives the audience a multi-layered and sensory journey of discovery where each step opens up new artistic and musical worlds.

Mall Call highlights the power of electronic dance music to unite people across boundaries in intense, shared experiences. By utilizing Stinsen’s unusual size, raw aesthetics, and opportunities for light and visual displays, the organizers want to create a club environment that challenges the conventional—where the venue itself becomes a creative stage for both the music and visual expressions.

A dynamic lineup of both Swedish and international artists will be revealed on August 31 at 10:00. At the same time, Early Bird ticket sales will begin, while regular tickets will be released at 10:00 the following day, September 1. All information about tickets and the program can be found exclusively on the festival’s official website.

Mall Call marks a growing movement where the venue is as central as the artists—and where urban creativity and the club world unite under a banner of renewal. For Stockholm, the festival represents a bold step toward reimagining the city’s empty spaces and blending architecture, electronics, and audience into a total experience beyond the ordinary.
