Jonas Lundqvist releases 'Dog för några år sen' ahead of new album and autumn tour 2026
Jonas Lundqvist, one of Sweden's most distinctive pop voices, is approaching a significant anniversary in 2026. Thirty years will have passed since his debut with the influential band Bad Cash Quartet, and Lundqvist continues to evolve—or, as he himself puts it, strip down—to the core of his artistry. The upcoming album 'Noll personlig utveckling' is released on October 23, 2026, and anticipation is building with the launch of the single 'Dog för några år sen', out August 28.
With each new release, Lundqvist approaches his musical center. 'Noll personlig utveckling' appears as an unadorned self-portrait: entertaining but brutally defeatist, with lyrics that spare neither his ambitions nor the idea of traditional success. The album honestly reflects a sense of resignation and alienation; Lundqvist himself observes: “Life maybe didn’t turn out quite as one had imagined, but that’s completely fine... I still don’t want to be part of any success-oriented society. I just want to be left alone and do my thing.”
The creative process behind the album reinforces this sincere and vulnerable mood. The album was written at a treatment center in Östergötland during autumn of 2025, and the songs grew out of live sessions in the studio together with Lundqvist’s touring band. As producer, Lundqvist enlisted David Axelson Wikberg, which ensured the sound stayed close to his vision. This time, he has actively chosen to embrace the Gothenburg sound that has long characterized his musical style—a shift that adds both warmth and authenticity to the album.
'Noll personlig utveckling' is Lundqvist's eighth solo album and is being released during a period when he is openly reflecting on his long career. While previous records have alluded to introspection, this collection is described as particularly relentless, as entertaining in its honesty as it is moving in its weary acceptance.
To follow up the album release, Lundqvist will embark on a Swedish tour, with confirmed dates in Uppsala, Malmö, Gothenburg, and Stockholm. In Gothenburg, high demand has led to a third extra concert at Pustervik, and some stops are already sold out or have only a few tickets left. The confirmed dates for autumn 2026 are:
- 14 November – Uppsala, Katalin
- 28 November – Malmö, Plan B
- 3 December – Gothenburg, Pustervik (extra concert)
- 4 December – Gothenburg, Pustervik (few tickets left)
- 5 December – Gothenburg, Pustervik (sold out)
- 12 December – Stockholm, Fållan (few tickets left)
The new single, 'Dog för några år sen', offers a first glimpse into the album’s introspective yet energetic tone. As Lundqvist ironically puts it, echoing tennis legend Rafael Nadal: "In the losers’ basement, there’s always another floor." For Lundqvist, music remains a sanctuary and a personal outlet—a place to pause and step into another world, even if just for a moment. For the Swedish indie audience, 'Noll personlig utveckling' is likely to be a strong and revealing chapter in Jonas Lundqvist’s musical journey.
