With the debut album "Året var 2026", Året Var — the collaboration between acclaimed Swedish artists Tove Styrke and Sanna Sikborn Erixon — presents a renewed expression rooted in the Swedish prog movement of the 1970s, yet with a sharp focus on present hopes and anxieties. The album, released just days before the 2026 parliamentary elections, comprises 15 tracks and serves as both commentary and call to action, where the music moves between protest, reflection, and a longing for togetherness.

Året Var makes a clear statement right from the start: uncompromising and deeply socially committed. The album interweaves stories of growing social divides and future uncertainties, but at the same time incorporates a longing for collective action and solidarity. Styrke and Sikborn Erixon wrote and produced the album together, with support from Gustav Lindelöw. Leading up to the album's release, Året Var has put out the singles "Är du nöjd nu?", "Nämndeman" (about the dilemmas of the Swedish middle class), and "Ryggraden". Previously, the band has performed as support for Valter Nilsson at Trädgården in Stockholm and guested with Lisa Ekdahl at Mosebacketerrassen on September 1, 2026, establishing Året Var as a new name on the live scene.
