Bad Valentines, the Helsinki-based rock band consisting of experienced musicians from Finland's vibrant indie scene, are back with the powerful new single "November Shadows." As the first single from their anticipated debut album, this release marks the start of a new chapter for a group already celebrated for its dynamic mix of influences and high-energy sound.

The band is made up of members known from acts such as Daggerplay, Plastic Tears and Flush. Their experience and diverse backgrounds shine through in the latest material, where classic punk, '70s arena rock and '60s melodic pop are skillfully woven together. This approach was already evident on the EP Memory Tattoos from 2025, produced by Petri Majuri (known for work with, among others, Franz Ferdinand, Michael Monroe, and Hanoi Rocks), which received rave reviews from major media outlets. Eugene Butcher at Vive Le Rock gave the EP 9 out of 10 points and praised its spot-on songwriting and strong performances. Both realgonerocks.com and musicarenagh.com also highlighted Bad Valentines' ability to surprise and to combine melodic nostalgia with uncompromising guitar work.

On "November Shadows" it's clear that Bad Valentines' sound has evolved. The song began as a blues-based number but went through major changes, transforming into a fast, soul- and rock'n'roll-driven hybrid with Motown vibes. In an autumnal, urban setting, the lyrics reflect how one finds beauty and comfort in darkness—something the band's guitarist and songwriter Pekko Mantzin sums up: "Shadows can be friends. There is no reason to avoid them or run from them," thus portraying shadows as a metaphor for companionship in solitude and contemplation.

The single not only sets the tone for the upcoming album, but also introduces listeners to the band's renewed creative direction. Recording began in spring 2026, resulting in eleven completed tracks that are now in the mixing phase. The debut album, still untitled, is expected to be released in 2027 and promises Bad Valentines' energetic, challenging and melodic expression for a broader audience.

Bad Valentines' uncompromising approach permeates everything they do, respecting both British and American punk as well as the grand rock of the '70s—without losing the emotional authenticity often associated with '60s pop. The music mirrors and responds to the present, strengthened by courage, vulnerability, and a sharp discussion of today's societal complexity.

With "November Shadows," Bad Valentines return and stir new enthusiasm among their loyal followers, while also inviting new listeners into their bold, genre-crossing sound. Ahead of the debut album's release in 2027, the band's artistic journey looks to be both innovative and deeply rooted in the legacy of the Finnish indie scene.
