ViVii Reflects on the Transience of Life in New Single “Temporary”

The Swedish dream pop trio ViVii is once again in the spotlight with the release of their new single “Temporary” through Dumont Dumont. The song, written and recorded in Stockholm, develops the band’s ethereal signature with a more contemplative tone and tackles themes such as change and the fleetingness of life.

Musically, “Temporary” weaves together lively guitar lines, psychedelic harmonies, and sparkling melodies, which are characteristic of ViVii’s dreamy and cinematic sound. The group consists of vocalist and multi-instrumentalists Emil and Caroline Jonsson together with producer and multi-instrumentalist Anders Eckeborn, and has drawn particular attention for their ability to blend retro influences with modern sounds – something that has placed them in the same spirit as artists like Lana Del Rey, Sufjan Stevens, and Beach House.

Beneath the song’s bright, melodic surface lies a deeply reflective message. The lyrics deal with the realization that change is not something waiting in the distance, but a constant companion throughout life. A central line – “the end is not near, it’s already here” – captures the feeling that existence is always in motion, even when we expect the future to begin.

At the same time, ViVii says that the song’s spirit is not characterized by pessimism. On the contrary, “Temporary” highlights how the transient nature of things gives each moment greater meaning. “The fact that things don’t last is precisely what gives them significance,” the band explains, and continues: “It’s about dancing as long as the music is playing, knowing that the song will end one day.” In this way, ViVii encourages the listener to appreciate the present instead of waiting for change.

“Temporary” follows ViVii’s previous single “Not Your Island.” Over the years, the band has built up an impressive international audience, with over 25 million streams on their self-titled debut album and more than 200,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. They have also opened for the acclaimed band Alt-J and have toured extensively.

Their digital presence is strong – the single “Love Love Love” became a viral success on social media with over five million pieces of content created since the end of 2025, according to press materials from the band. This web-based breakthrough has further strengthened their global reputation.

With “Temporary,” ViVii further refines their dreamy, reflective pop sound. The song, released in 2026 through Dumont Dumont, is now available for streaming and invites listeners worldwide to reflect on the bittersweet beauty of life – one crystal-clear melody at a time.
