Josefin Öhrn presents psychedelic pop gem with "Dreaming of You" ahead of solo debut "Cherry"

Josefin Öhrn, previously noted as the front figure for the Swedish psychedelic group Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation, now takes a natural step into her solo career with "Dreaming of You," released on September 9, 2026. The single is a vibrant appetizer for the long-awaited debut album Cherry, set for release on September 25, 2026 via Eagle Lane Records/Republic of Music. "Dreaming of You" stands out for its danceable, sun-drenched psychedelic pop, where playful synth textures by Björn Yttling (Lykke Li, Peter Bjorn and John) meet brilliant guitar layers from Andy Bell (Ride, Oasis).

"Dreaming of You" is described by Öhrn as a song about longing and the pursuit of meeting that special someone. The song envelops the listener in a bright, hopeful soundscape and is supported by some of Sweden’s top musicians: Victor Hvidtfeldt (guitar), Fredrik Sandsten (drums and percussion), Gabriel Runemark (percussion), and Oskar Lindberg (Steinway piano). The production is led by Kalle Gustafsson Jerneholm (Soundtrack Of Our Lives) with co-production by György Barocsai, giving the track a richly textured, layer-upon-layer sonic landscape.

The upcoming album Cherry demonstrates Josefin Öhrn's ability to unite her psychedelic roots with lush, atmospheric pop. There are clear traces from her time with The Liberation—aesthetics that earned the group both a Grammis nomination and international acclaim—but Cherry moves toward a more relaxed, exploratory sound. Comparisons to artists like Kurt Vile, Lana Del Rey, and Natalie Bergman are easily drawn, with clear melodies and direct, emotional lyrics at the center. The collaborations on Cherry are impressive: Anton Newcombe from The Brian Jonestown Massacre appears on vocals, and Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream) provides backing vocals on the shoegaze-inspired single "Electrified". Another previous single, "Cherry Tree", has been praised for its Mazzy Star-inspired sound. Kalle Gustafsson Jerneholm also contributes bass, guitar, vocoder, and percussion, while Björn Yttling adds Hammond organ, harp, and Casio synth, creating a musically rich and detailed album.

Josefin Öhrn's time with The Liberation (2011–2019) included several important milestones; the debut single Diamond Waves (2014) led, among other things, to a Grammis nomination as Newcomer of the Year as well as international attention, particularly for the acclaimed album Horse Dance (2015). The band played at festivals such as Glastonbury and Roskilde, were recognized by the world press, and received support from BBC 6 Music. With the follow-up Mirage (2016), they won Manifestgalan's Composer of the Year award, further strengthening Öhrn's position as a creative force.
