The Swedish songwriter and artist Dandelion strengthens their distinctive cinematic alternative pop sound with the new single "Scissors", released on October 2, 2026 via EMI Sweden and Universal Music Nordics. The song is the second single from the highly anticipated debut album My Sadness Needs Your Full Attention, a project that tackles big emotions and is divided into two parts: the first chapter arrives on October 30, 2026, and the second during spring 2027.

After releasing the single "ONONON," which explored the feeling of being in an emotional vacuum where one tries to let go, "Scissors" delves deeper into introspection. The song deals with the desire to start a new relationship without old wounds and experiences resurfacing, but at the same time asserts that real healing is not about trying to erase one's past. The lyrics feature lines such as "same crowd, new makeup" and "same tears, new breakup," where Dandelion makes clear the struggle that even though circumstances change, old wounds remain and color every new attempt.

The inspiration for "Scissors" came in the first apartment Dandelion shared with their partner Zacke four years ago. The songwriting was improvised and natural—Dandelion sat at the piano outside the bathroom while Zacke showered, and they tossed lines back and forth. This everyday situation created a song about the hopelessness of wanting "to do everything right," of fighting to mend or remove past traumas to protect something new. The harder one tries to erase the past, the more tangible it becomes, Dandelion believes.

Ultimately, "Scissors" is about choosing acceptance over trying to erase experiences. Dandelion reflects on healing as a process in which one integrates old wounds into oneself rather than denying them, allowing that history to contribute to who you are without letting it control the future. The song invites the listener to see healing as an opportunity to be guided by what has been, rather than trying to rewrite the past.

Dandelion's previous single "ONONON" has already attracted international attention, including from Wonderland Magazine, MTV UK, Official Charts, Spindle Magazine, Fame Magazine, BroadwayWorld, Popzine, and Out Loud Culture. This growing recognition only heightens anticipation for the upcoming releases.

In addition to her success as a solo artist, Dandelion has made a name as a songwriter for global artists such as Bebe Rexha, Katy Perry, SOFI TUKKER, Griff, and UPSAHL. With My Sadness Needs Your Full Attention, she puts her own story at the center, combining raw, personal lyrics with expansive alt-pop. The album addresses themes such as heartbreak, identity, mental health, and longing for belonging, exploring the contradictory feelings and relationships that make up the complex landscape of healing.

With "Scissors" and "ONONON", Dandelion cements an emotionally nuanced debut that is sure to engage listeners seeking contemporary alternative pop with depth and storytelling.
