The American singer Erin Kinsey, originally from Texas, took the stage at Nalen Stora Salen on Tuesday evening. The elegant yet cozy venue hosted one of the USA's most popular music genres this night – country pop.

It was the first time Erin Kinsey performed in Sweden, but that didn't stop the audience from showing up to see her live and hear songs like Just Drive, Ain’t Crazy, and Matchmaker. These are among the most appreciated songs by her fans.

It was obvious that the audience was fully invested in the evening. Cowboy boots and hats were everywhere, along with shirts and classic checkered patterns reminiscent of typical clothing styles in rural America, especially in Texas. It almost felt as if part of Texas had moved to Stockholm for an evening. The crowd simply wanted to show that we in Sweden also know how to dress for the occasion.

At exactly 21:00, Erin's guitarists took the stage. The lighting was dimmed almost completely, with only a few faint blue beams illuminating the stage and band members. Then, out of nowhere, the whole stage was lit, and Erin Kinsey made her entrance to the delight of the crowd. With her wide smile, she exuded confidence, charisma, and professionalism from the very first second.

Erin felt like a different kind of artist compared to many of the others I have seen in recent months. It was my first time experiencing country music live, but above all, her stage presence impressed me. She moved constantly across the stage, engaged with the audience, and greeted fans while singing and playing the guitar. This was perhaps not surprising given that she comes from Nashville, where she now lives – a city where country music is not just a genre but a part of the very lifestyle.

Between songs, Erin sometimes paused to share personal stories and anecdotes from her life. She mentioned, among other things, that she started playing guitar and singing at the age of eleven. She is also a songwriter and has had the opportunity to write music for artists like Dolly Parton, Monica, Jordin Sparks, Rita Wilson, and Sara Evans. This is quite impressive and says a lot about the talent Erin possesses, especially considering she is only 26 years old.

The lighting also played an important role during the evening, reflecting the mood and message of the songs very effectively. During, for example, This Ain’t Heaven and Always Never, which are more melancholic than some of the more energetic and festive songs, the lights became darker and more dramatic. At times, the stage was almost only illuminated by a warm, yellow glow aimed at Erin and her fellow musicians. This created an atmosphere filled with melancholy, reflection, and a strong sense of closeness between the artist and the audience. These are the kinds of details that can make a concert feel more alive and give the audience a completely different experience.

Another memorable moment came when three guys from the audience started dancing together and imitating riding a bull, swinging their cowboy hats from side to side. Suddenly, Nalen felt less like a concert venue in Stockholm and more like a rodeo somewhere in Texas. And perhaps that's exactly as it should be. When the audience is having fun and spreading positive energy to the artist, they often get the same energy back, yet even stronger. A fairly fair exchange, if you ask me.

It was without a doubt an eventful evening—explosive at times and much calmer at others. Love was also in the air, and as the audience eventually left Nalen, they did so with smiles and the feeling of having experienced something special. And all of this on an ordinary Tuesday night, several days before the weekend even started. But as they say: time flies when you’re having fun.

The Stockholm concert was also the final stop on Erin Kinsey’s Summer Tour in Europe. During the tour, she visited, among other places, Norway, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, England, and now Sweden. After the concert, she left Stockholm feeling both happy and grateful for the reception she received during the journey. She also expressed this on her Instagram account, where she highlighted the love, support, and warm welcome she had felt in the various places during the tour.
