Disneyland After Dark, better known as D-A-D, took the stage at Gröna Lund on Friday evening. A beautiful and tranquil sunset set the scene for the arrival of one of the longest-running bands in the music scene, with a career spanning more than 40 years.

The audience filled the entire amusement park to be part of this magical evening, where D-A-D provided the vibrant music and the great atmosphere.

Just a few minutes before nine o’clock, the crowd began roaring D-A-D's name at the top of their lungs. It was clear that the anticipation and longing to see the Danes perform their classics was at its peak. When the audience least expected it, the main figures of the evening stepped out onto the stage: Jesper Binzer, Jacob Binzer, Stig Pedersen, and Laust Sonne. Four true legends, no doubt!

The stage exploded right from the first song, “Jihad,” a song that brought thoughts back to the 90s and had more than one person in the crowd jumping like crazy. Everything started off with enormous energy, and to my great surprise, the second song was “Written in Water” – a more melancholic, nostalgic, and quite introspective song, but at the same time retaining the band’s characteristic energy.

The visual impression also left me speechless. The stage was filled with shifting lights and flames shooting up from both sides and behind the performers. But what truly impressed me was the platform shaped like a bull’s skull, where drummer Laust Sonne stood and did his thing. The platform was raised and lowered during the concert, creating a powerful visual element that, in my opinion, made the show even more impressive.

Of course, we also got to hear some of the band’s greatest classics, including “Sleeping My Day Away,” “Bad Craziness,” and “Everything Glows.” Throughout the concert, the lights kept shifting on stage, while the crowd jumped, sang along, and had a really great time. It was an evening filled with energy, nostalgia, and above all, pure playing joy.

During part of the show, singer Jesper Binzer even stepped down from the stage and went out into the crowd to sing one of the band’s songs. It was without a doubt a moment the audience greatly appreciated, responding with applause and a singalong together with Jesper. Best of all, by that time daylight had vanished completely and only the night’s darkness surrounded us. Only the stage’s lights illuminated the artist and the audience, creating a truly special and almost magical feeling right in the middle of the concert.

If I were to describe D-A-D with a single word it would be excellence. And how could it be anything else? These are musicians who are professionals in every respect, but above all, they are passionate about what they do. After more than 40 years on stage, they still manage to deliver a show with the same energy, presence, and joy – and that truly deserves respect.
